FÁILTE / WELCOME

Fuair sibh sinn, an iris oifigiúil Chumann Carad Na Gaeilge.  Thosaigh ár ngníomhaíochtaí i 1872 agus ár n-iris i 1881.  Tugadh "An Gaodhal" ar ár n-iris seo go 1904 nuair a scoir ár bhfoilsitheoireacht, agus tá ár n-iris ar ais anois mar "An Gael," ag tarraingt airde arís ar neart agus fhás na Gaeilge ar fud an domhain.

Cé hé agus cé hí An Gael?  Tusa - patrún, tacaí, soláthraí, agus cruthaitheoir na n-ealaíon Gaelacha, le cultúr, stair, agus teanga ina measc.  Beidh an iris seo fútsa agus leatsa.  Agus beidh sí ar shon iad siúd a choimeád ár gcultúr Gaelach beo ó ghlúin go glúin.

Beidh sí seo ina hiris dhúbailtheangach, as Gaeilge agus Béarla, chun cabhair a thabhairt do fhoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge.  Má's maith leat alt dúbhailtheangach a thairiscint dúinn, tairg é le do thoil ar "Na Gaeil", ár gclár plé!  Ó am go ham, baileoimid cuid desna haltanna ar "Na Gaeil" chun "An Gael" a fhoilsiú.  Ní féidir le gach alt iontach dul isteach i n-"An Gael" - níl ionad go leor againn.  Ach, le do thoil, foilsigh d'alt ar "Na Gaeil" ionas gur féidir le Gaeil ar fud an domhain do thaighde agus do smaointe agus d'ealaíon a léamh, a chloisteáil, nó a fheiceáil.  Má tá imní ort nach bhfuil do ghramadach nó do litriú foirfe, ná bíodh imní ort.  Iarrfaimid ar Ghaeilgeoirí ar fud an domhain ár ndréachtaí ar an suíomh seo a cheartú.  Má fheiceann tú botún i n-aon alt, inis dúinn le do thoil.

You've found us, the official magazine of The Philo-Celtic Society.  Our activities began in 1872 and our magazine in 1881.  We used to be called An Gaodhal ('The Gaelic Person') until 1904 when our publication ceased, and we're back now as An Gael in the new spelling, again calling attention to the strength and growth of the Irish language around the world.

Who is The Gael?  You are - the patron, supporter, provider, and creator of Gaelic arts, including culture, history, and language.  This magazine will be by and about you.  And it will be for those who have kept Gaelic culture alive from generation to generation.

This will be a dual-language magazine, in Irish and in English, to help Irish language learners.  If you want to contribute a dual language article, please do on "Na Gaeil", our discussion board!  From time to time we'll collect some of the articles on "Na Gaeil" to publish "An Gael."  Every great article won't be able to go into "An Gael" - we don't have enough room.  But, please, publish your article on "Na Gaeil" so that the Gaeil throughout the world can read, hear, or see your research, your thoughts, or your art.  If you're worried that your grammar or spelling isn't perfect, don't worry.  We're going to ask Irish speakers around the world to correct our drafts on this website.  If you see a mistake, please tell us.

Bain sult as an suíomh seo! / Enjoy this site!
Le gach dea-mhéin,
